The side effects of Finasteride
I had been taking Finasteride for 10 weeks at 5mg per day for an enlarged prostate.
Apart from Gynaecomastia I had depression and arthralgia - all three are recognised side effects of Finasteride.
I stopped taking it as soon as I recognised that I was getting depressed. My partner had noticed this about 5 days earlier than me.
I hadn't associated the arthralgia with Finasteride until I stopped taking it and miraculously my pain pretty much resolved.
On the day I stopped taking the drug, I was getting undressed and bent over to get my socks off, and my partner said "What on earth has happened to your chest?"
Looking in the mirror I could see the issue - I had obvious, slightly pendulous, rounded breasts and dark nipples.
I'm not sure how I hadn't seen this development.
My theory is that the breast tissue had developed pretty quickly towards the end of the time I had been taking Finasteride.
